Italian sport shoe company Scarpa has a new partner
Scarpa, an Italian company specializing in mountain and outdoor footwear, has a new minority shareholder.
It is Nuo, an investment holding company whose partners include the Pao-Cheng family of Hong Kong and the French Guerrand family (heirs of Hermés’ founder), which has entered the company’s capital with a minority stake. As part of the agreement, Cornaro, the Venetian family’s holding company, will continue to retain majority control.
They reappointed Sandro Parisotto, as chairman, and Diego Bolzonello, as CEO, who will continue occupying their positions to ensure continuity and stability in the management of the company.
“Over the years we have set off on a path of development, with a significant evolution from a family to a managerial organizational structure. This has allowed us to strengthen our leadership in the outdoor sector and consolidate Scarpa’s reputation as a brand of excellence and reference worldwide,” Parisotto stressed.
“In continuity with this path, we think Nuo is the strategic partner to further support the development plans of the coming years, while Scarpa’s values and soul remain the same as ever,” the manager added.
Scarpa was founded in 1938 in Asolo, near Treviso, in northern Italy and specializes in the production of outdoor footwear for mountaineering, climbing, trail running, trekking, hiking, urban outdoors, ski mountaineering, and telemark skiing.
In 2023, the company’s turnover had risen to €154 million and employees became 1,570. It is now counting a presence in several foreign countries, with offices in Germany, The US, China, and factories in Romania and Serbia, while maintaining 60% of its manufacturing activities in Italy, in the heart of the Veneto footwear district.
Soon new frontiers of development will open up with Nuo, a company founded in 2016 by a group of bankers led by Tommaso Paoli and specializing in investments in medium-sized Italian companies with a long-term horizon.
Nuo’s investors include Bending Spoons (digital), Ludovico Martelli (personal care with Proraso and Marvis), Venchi (food), and Andriani (innovation & healthy food). In fashion, it has bet on Slowear, Subdued and Montura, another name in outdoor clothing, with which synergies could be created.
“We are proud to join the Scarpa project, aimed at the continuous search for excellence and built on values such as integrity, fairness, attention to people and community,” said Paoli.
“We will be committed in the long run to supporting the Parisotto family so that Scarpa can establish itself as a global example of a company capable of achieving significant business results while holding firm to its values and soul,” he added.
