Trust by fulfilling promises with buyers Three plants are scheduled to operate in Vietnam alone due to a flood of orders.
Samdeok Trading, a Busan shoe company that suddenly lost all of its production plants due to the closure of the Kaesong Industrial Complex in North Korea in 2016, entered Vietnam and succeeded in making a comeback.
According to Samduk Trade on the 14th, the Busan-based company, which was established in 1997, has grown rapidly, winning the $10 million export tower in 2000, three years after its establishment. Then, in 2008, the Kaesong Industrial Complex operated “Samdeok Starfield,” which has 3,500 employees and can produce 360 satisfaction in shoes per year. Except for the Busan headquarters, which can handle only some processes, all production facilities were concentrated in the Kaesong Industrial Complex. However, due to the sudden closure of the Kaesong Industrial Complex in 2016, it was evicted leaving most of the factory buildings, facilities, and raw materials, and did not receive proper compensation.
The company is on the verge of closing down. Samdeok Trading, however, set the principle that buyers should make and supply shoes ordered even at the expense of losses, and fulfilled all its promises by commissioning production at more than 20 small production facilities in China. Thanks to this, trust with buyers has become stronger, and orders have begun to pour into “Samdeok Vietnam,” a local corporation that began operating its factory in Longan Province in southern Vietnam in 2017.
For this reason, the following year, another corporation, Youngin Vina, which produces semi-finished products, was opened in the southern Vietnamese province of Binzhou. In 2019, ‘OFN’, a production facility specializing in safety shoes, began operating in Indonesia. Samdeok Trading succeeded in making a comeback by winning the $30 million export tower in December last year to commemorate the 60th Trade Day.
Samdeok Trading is also building a factory in Sadang Province in southwestern Vietnam that can produce 480 semi-finished products. Samdeok Trading, which produces shoes such as K2, Black Yak, MLB, and North Face through OEM, has actively developed products and currently has 27 patents, 5 utility models, 8 designs, and 7 trademarks.
“The closure of the Kaesong Industrial Complex caused a big crisis, but after fulfilling the promise with buyers that seemed impossible, trust has grown stronger,” said Moon Chang-seop, chairman of Samdeok Trading. “Order of high value-added products is also continuing in Europe, including Germany.”
